An extensively renovated character villa overlooking the beautiful Dunedin harbour is home to Pioneers' Elm Row Centre. Whether your young baby is still very new to the world or your bigger child is getting ready to start primary school, Pioneers Elm Row is a safe, fun and exciting place to be.
Each child has a key teacher to help them settle in at Pioneers Elm Row and to support them throughout their time at our centre. The key teacher will ensure that your child’s learning adventure is captured in their own profile book and an online e-portfolio called Storypark so you can share these precious moments and have a lasting memory of your child’s early childhood.
We provide a purposeful, rich and inclusive learning environment where children are free to play and explore; each in their own unique way. We love to use the natural environment around us to enhance both play and learning and are currently implementing a forest programme for three and four year old children.
As children prepare to start school we assist them on this exciting journey with a Transition to School (Ako) group for the four-year old children.
We have a qualified cook on hand to keep busy young people well-fuelled with tasty and nutritious meals and snacks all day long. When it’s time for a rest, children have their own comfy space to sleep and a basket for their belongings. We keep a very close eye on sleeping children and an on-site record.
Family and the wider community play an important part of Pioneers Elm Row’s philosophy and we value your involvement. We believe in teachers, children and whanau working together as a team, learning from one another. Getting involved in our regular fundraising ventures is one way our families can support our centre.
We look forward to welcoming your whanau to Pioneers Elm Row.
